i grew up in Bridgehampton, Long Island. back in the mid - late 60s my Mom worked at the Bridgehampton Race Track at a concession stand. she'd take me along with her - i was 10, maybe 11 years old at the time - so i got to see and mostly hear these wonderful beasts race. there was a motel next door to us where many teams would stay and i spent many awe struck hours looking over the cars that were often on open trailers and unenclosed transporters, something that would be unthinkable today. i reall appreciae these images because they bring back memories of my Mom, Bridgehampton before the wealthy people took it over full time, and of days when American horsepower was something to be reckoned with. thanks for reminding me how luck i was to have been a witness to part of it.
